We know that Andrew, who was born in Paisley, died young, but a mystery surrounded where Robert got to. My great aunt thinks it may have been Robert that they took her mother to see when Elizabeth Driver was in her seventies. Her mother went to Clevedon to see her girl friend and she told her that her brother was managing a farm nearby. When they saw him he was plaiting whips for drovers out of leather. He was very like Elizabeth but not sure if it was a step brother or brother. However, she thought his name was Robert.
After her mother died Elizabeth was bought up by her Aunt and Uncle Samuel and Margaret Laird (nee Elliott) born c 1834). They had no family. Mrs Laird was described as a handsome but hard woman, a big woman. Samuel Laird would walk from Clevedon to Papakura, seven miles away carry a sack of potatoes. They shifted to Thames about 1900 and lived in the house next to Elizabeth Driver in Sandes St . Both houses are still standing.
