Alexander Kerr died May 10th 1870 at Springburn, Near Glasgow.
He is then described as coachman married to Jane Gillies aged 56 years, Son of James Kerr, engine fitter and Jane McPherson. Cause of death cancer. Informant, John Kerr, son.
This puts his birth in 1813 or early 1814 but cannot find it or the marriage of his parents.

In 1883 at Milnathort Orwell Kinross we find the death of Jane Kerr . Her death certificate has Jane Kerr widow of Alexr. Kerr Coachman aged 48 (she was actually 58) 133 Jul 1883 at Milnathort Orwell Kinross
Parents William Gilles -moulder deceased. Helen Gilles nee Edwards deceased Died from Aortic Valvular incompetence & dropsy for 4 months. Informant Daniel Donaldson son in law.
In the 1841 census of Perth there is a James Kerr aged 25 born Perth a curriers clerk. Is this a brother of Alexander as cannot find this birth as well.
John and Sarah Kerr and daughter Jane left Glasgow on the "Oamaru" on 30/11/1874 and arrived in Dunedin on 17/2/1875.

John was a coach painter, and the family was brought to New Zealand by the Railway Department as assisted immigrants.

John Kerr died on 28/3/1926 and his death certificate shows.
Aged 78 foreman painter. Died at 185 Linwood Av. of heart failure.
