                                          ELLIOTT FAMILY

Elizabeth Elliott (born 20/1/1832 from Bible) born Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh, bleacher, aged 20, daughter of  Robert Elliott, labourer and Sarah Gray. Andrew Lindsay and Elizabeth were married at Abbey Church Paisley, Scotland on 29/6/1855  Witnesses Alexander Elliot and Samuel Lindsay.

Children of Robert Elliott and Sarah Grey. Jane born 1828? Was she one of the illegible birth entries of the Derryvullan church of Ireland as the rest of the family are registered.

13/9/1829 Alexander Robert Elliott Sarah  townland Milltate Derryvullan

25/?/1831 Elizabeth Robert Elliott  Sarah Mullaghmoss? ( This townland appears in 1821 census) A William D’Arcy Irvine estate. Sally’s Wood near Milltate was know as Mulllock Moss Woods and was part of the Irvine Estate so it is very likely it is the same place.

11/1/1834 Margaret  Robert Elliott Sarah not listed Cullaghmore

30/6/1837 9/7/1837 Sarah Robert Elliott Sarah Cullaghmore Farmer

There is also a death of an Elliot in Coolcran in 1845. This is the only Elliott mentioned there so was the whole family living there then.

Alexander married Jane Thompson at Tempo Church , in Fermanagh, Ireland. He gave his place where he was as Coolcran which is a farm just north west of Tempo. They had 8 children before moving to Canada in the 1870’s. In the Irvinestown record 11 Jan 1834 we have Margaret Elliott father Robert Elliott and Sarah living at Cullaghmore which is fairly certainly our Margaret. Cullaghmore is West of Irvinestown towards Lisnarick. We also have a Robert Elliott in the 1821 census as an apprentice carpenter at Drumall closeby. Also nearby is the townland of Cassidy where in 1812 there was a Robert and Sarah Gray. Is it possible that our Sarah Gray was their daughter? Also found 1837 July 9 - Derryvollan, Sarah dau Robert & Sarah Elliott. A more likely possiblilty which ties in with what the American Elliott’s were told- in 1834 Tithe Applotment book Alexander Grey Derryhoney Cleenish. This is very close to Maguiresbridge. There is also listed a John Grey who had land at Maguiresbridge.

In a Proclamation of Marriage April 15 1854 at Middle church Paisley, we see Jane Elliot 26 marrying John Robertson 36, policeman. Later he may have joined the army. They had 2 children with a 7 year gap.
