Ian's family arrived in New Zealand between 1841-1874. Jewel's family arrived in New Zealand between 1851 and 1883.

Ian's parents were Angus Graham Fyfe (born 31 Dec 1913 at Geraldine and Lyall Gwendoline Saunders ( born 9 Aug 1918 AT  Palmerston North and married 29 June 1943 at Earls Court London . Jewel's parents were  Kenneth Robert Driver (born 11 Jan 1924 Thames) and Ngaire Elvie Kerr (born 7 March 1924) married at Linwood Baptist Church Christchurch 24 April 1946.
